[2.] Full description of the problem/report:
When I issue the following command to setup my serial port I get the error:
root@delta:~# setserial /dev/ttyS2 uart 16550A port 0x9000 irq 5
Cannot set serial info: Address already in use
However I think that this error is spurious as I have ensured that the card
is not sharing an IRQ with any other devices.
Additionally I have built older kernels with the same config file and my
modem works with the 2.4.6 kernel and does not work with the 2.4.7 kernel.
When setserial fails, if I try to use minicom I get no response from the
modem when I type in AT commands. If I use a working kernel the AT commands
act normally.
As a test I copied the following files from the 2.4.6 source tree into my
2.4.19-rc2 tree:

/usr/src/linux/include/linux/serialP.h
With this "patch" applied I can use my modem with no issues.
