Especially with motherboard FB51 and Intel 845GE chipset. Do I need APIC to get the hyperthreading work? (on the test machine with SiS651 I had to say "noapic") Will "noapic" affect performance? Background: For several years we have used servers and workstations based on dual pentium systems (Asus and Intel mb). Now we intend switching to the new XPC systems from Shuttle, as work stations as they are small and rather silent. On the first system (SLiX with Creative label) the APIC didn't work however. This corresponds to Shuttle SS-51G with mb FS51G which utilizes the SiS651 chipset. (This has, however, not hyperthread support) Now, I have plans to check the SB-51G with FB51 mb which uses the Intel i845GE chipset, and which really has hyperthread support. /Roland Orre
