You are you using udev on /dev, right? Is /dev a tmpfs or on the root
filesystem?
What does "udevtest /sys/class/mem/null" print?
But, I can't think of any case, udev would recreate /dev/null after
reboot. Maybe it's possible to temporarely disable hotplug after the
machine is running, by "echo "/bint/true > /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug".
It would narrow down the field.
