Their newer stuff is not well supported because they won't release any docs. They have been helpful in the past, years ago the emu10k1 was one of the very first cards to be well supported in Linux (it's still the only supported hardware wavetable synth AFAIK) because Creative wrote and released a driver. Maybe they could be convinced to do it again if enough users complain.
