This is probably to do with this ARM gcc bug:-
http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=27363
and this is now fixed in gcc. :)
Fwiw, Open Embedded (http://www.openembedded.org/) builds an ARM EABI
toolset without this bug. It can also cross compile alsa-lib and all the
audio utilities for you as well.
