I've tried to use other codecs but it just ignore it ie: modprobe snd-hda-intel model=6stck-dig give me : hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC882, trying auto-probe from BIOS... The card is an integrated on an Asus P5WD. There are 6 jack on the card plus 1 spdif coax, 1 spdif optical and 1 connexion on the motherboard for mic and line out for the case front (can be used in hda mode or legacy AC97 mode). There is also something special, a connector for using the speakers the the computer is off. Right now, the card works, but there are some quirks: - there is no master control and some apps aren't happy at all about it, - the digital out is not in a common place (I don't know how to say it better. In the apps, it used to be used like this : AES0=0x6,AES1=0x82,AES2=0x0,AES3=0x2 but here, I have to use: AES0=0x6,AES1=0x82,AES2=0x0,AES3=0x1 (it hard to find the meaning of this, I didn't found it in the docs, it was a trial-error guessing, with the help of /proc/asound/devices) - sometimes, (in fact, never with the 1.0.13 of the drivers but very often with the 1.0.14) the digital out seems to be frozen when sending ac3 by pass trough. I mean,ie I use it for stereo sound, OK, I try to watch a DVD, no sound goes out and my speaker system tries to detect the kind of thing I'm sending to them, I quit the DVD app, I try to listen to music and, there is no more sound on this channel (the speakers always try to detect the kind of data, I have tried to shut them off and on, but it's always the same). Maybe it's another, problem and, when the 1.0.14 will be released, I'll report it if it persist. The more annoying thing is the lack of master control. Do you think I can provide you enough informations to correct it or you need some specs from Asus ? Nicolas. PS: I'm not a c programmer (nor c++) so I just can help you giving informations or trying some procedures for you (I regret that, trust me) If you need more informations, just ask me.
