The goal is to have a better bootloader.

I'm afraid it's not "more fancy".  It's under development, and many
aspects need improvement.  But you can try it so that you have your own
opinion.

Please avoid asking questions that can only have subjective answers,
especially if you are asking somebody participating in the development.

I think if you are looking only to get the best software right now
without giving anything in return, grub2 is not for you.
