I have seen something like this occasionally - it's usually a problem with the board's USB hardware. Do you have another board you can try?

Subject: [meta-freescale] about usb

Hi all
     Have anyone come across the problem like that,once the kernel boots it print:
    usb 2-1: new low speed USB device number 3 using fsl-ehci
    usb 2-1: device not accepting address 3, error -71
    +++ hub_port_connect_change:udev->level :1
    usb 2-1: new low speed USB device number 4 using fsl-ehci
    usb 2-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71
    usb 2-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71
    +++ hub_port_connect_change:udev->level :1
    usb 2-1: new low speed USB device number 5 using fsl-ehci
    usb 2-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71
