Hi

First of all I am not certain this is exactly the correct forum for this question but since it is about an iMX28 I will take a chance.

I am having some issues with a custom made iMX28 board. When plugging the power and the USB OTG I get error messages in Linux:

[ 5609.610444] usb 3-6: new high-speed USB device number 31 using xhci_hcd
[ 5609.722771] usb 3-6: Device not responding to setup address.
[ 5609.943083] usb 3-6: device descriptor read/all, error -71
[ 5610.055057] usb 3-6: new high-speed USB device number 32 using xhci_hcd
[ 5610.167270] usb 3-6: Device not responding to setup address.
[ 5610.371516] usb 3-6: Device not responding to setup address.
[ 5610.575668] usb 3-6: device not accepting address 32, error -71
[ 5610.687856] usb 3-6: new high-speed USB device number 33 using xhci_hcd
[ 5610.704202] usb 3-6: device descriptor read/all, error -71
[ 5610.816014] usb 3-6: new high-speed USB device number 34 using xhci_hcd
[ 5610.832227] usb 3-6: device descriptor read/all, error -71
[ 5610.832266] usb usb3-port6: unable to enumerate USB device

If I do the same thing with the evaluation card (having erased the entire NAND to emulate a clean card) i get the following:
[ 5628.013213] usb 3-6: new high-speed USB device number 35 using xhci_hcd
[ 5628.141823] usb 3-6: New USB device found, idVendor=15a2, idProduct=004f
[ 5628.141826] usb 3-6: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
[ 5628.141828] usb 3-6: Product: ROM Recovery
[ 5628.141829] usb 3-6: Manufacturer: Freescale,Inc.
[ 5628.142696] hid-generic 0003:15A2:004F.0007: hiddev0,hidraw5: USB HID v1.10 Device [Freescale,Inc. ROM Recovery]

The custom board has a MCIMX283DVM4B cpu. Is there anything special with the evaluation board to make it respond or do I have to do something special with the custom board to get the USB to respond properly?

So what I am asking for is advice what to do and if you think it is a hardware or software error.

Many thanks in advance,
Per Smitt

?
