Subject: Patch "ipv6: add complete rcu protection around np->opt" has been added to the 4.3-stable tree
Date: Fri, 11 Dec 2015 08:49:31 -0800 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <1449852571217184@kroah.com> (raw)
This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled
ipv6: add complete rcu protection around np->opt
to the 4.3-stable tree which can be found at:
http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary
The filename of the patch is:
ipv6-add-complete-rcu-protection-around-np-opt.patch
and it can be found in the queue-4.3 subdirectory.
If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree,
please let <stable@vger.kernel.org> know about it.

Subject: ipv6: add complete rcu protection around np->opt
From: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com>
[ Upstream commit 45f6fad84cc305103b28d73482b344d7f5b76f39 ]
This patch addresses multiple problems :
UDP/RAW sendmsg() need to get a stable struct ipv6_txoptions
while socket is not locked : Other threads can change np->opt
concurrently. Dmitry posted a syzkaller
(http://github.com/google/syzkaller) program desmonstrating
use-after-free.
Starting with TCP/DCCP lockless listeners, tcp_v6_syn_recv_sock()
and dccp_v6_request_recv_sock() also need to use RCU protection
to dereference np->opt once (before calling ipv6_dup_options())
This patch adds full RCU protection to np->opt
