I patched vanilla and got no errors. On doing a make this happened:
scripts/kconfig/conf -s arch/x86/Kconfig
CHK include/linux/version.h
CHK include/linux/utsrelease.h
CALL scripts/checksyscalls.sh
CHK include/linux/compile
dnsdomainname: Hostname lookup failure
CC [M] fs/reiser4/jnode.o

make[2]: *** [fs/reiser4/jnode.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [fs/reiser4] Error 2
make: *** [fs] Error 2
