My system: Intel mbd D 865 PERL. 3.0 GHz, 1Gb ram, 185 Gb HD. Sound chip on motherboard is possibly ICS CJ360365, 0333 952618BF, 56-pin IC. Some of those numbers may be production IC batch numbers? OS is Debian Linux 3.1Roa, 2.4.27-2-686 kernel. D/l ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.9rc4a.tar.bz2 .configure modified to set sound option. Compiled, installed, no error. I don't find any AD SoundMax driver reference- is there an alternate? No sound. Also you can't just install the alsa-driver package, you also need alsa-kernel and alsa-lib.
