AFAICS, the preempt patch is planned to be merged into 2.5 when it splits
out of 2.4 sometime soon.

There are patches for both -ac ane Linus kernels.  Using the latest patch
against the latest kernel is your best bet.

I've been using it for a few weeks now with no problems on -ac kernels.
