I guess, you're looking for a versions system. Try CVS
http://www.cvshome.org/

Not sure that CVS is what you mean. I'm assuming you mean a tool for
managing projects, not a tool for managing code.
In which case, have a looka t "MrProject"
(http://mrproject.codefactory.se/) which seems to be fairly solid and
apparently fairly usable (I don't use that kind of tool myslef, so I
don't really have any direct experience of what's good and what isn't).
There are RPMs around as well; it comes on the Red Hat 7.3 CD. It may
come with Debian, I don't know.
Paul.

Debian Sid (unstable) includes mrproject and two related library packages.
Woody (stable) lists only the mrproject package itself in the apt-cache
database.

If you are looking for a project management interface for all affected
parties........i suggest "phprojekt". It is a PHP web interface to project
management.
It does not provide the graphically superior printing and/or graphing
capabilities of mrproject; but it excels in project team usability.

Can that be run in console text mode? There are a few of us on the list I
expect only using console text interface, I'm doing it because that's all
my screen reader will handle.
