x86: both 2.4.26 and 2.6.6-rc2 work ok for me using aic7xxx.
The controllers driven are

00:10.0 SCSI storage controller: Adaptec AHA-2940U/UW/D / AIC-7881U
00:12.0 SCSI storage controller: Adaptec AHA-2940U/UW/D / AIC-7881U
