There was a lengthy discussion about Athlon XP-M on desktop boards (in
my case, Asus A7V8X) some weeks ago - check the archives. The mainboard
needs to support at least the frequency tables for the CPU. I know of no
mainboard that does.
What does /proc/cpuinfo say in your case?
There are several patches to powernow-k7 that enable you to supply your own
PSB on the command line for instance. Unfortunately, the powernow
maintainers want to save the world from exploding CPUs and don't add such a
