Description: test1.wav is a mono audio file. aplay -Ddefault test1.wav This produces sound on multiple speakers. aplay -Dfront test1.wav This produces no sound, but if test1.wav was a stereo file it would play. aplay -Dsurround40 test1.wav This produces no sound. It would be nice if one selects a device that has 2 channels like "front", and then one sets 1 channel in hw_params, alsa-lib should automatically adjust the 1 channel to fill both output channels to the speakers. The same with "surround40". If one sets 1 channel in hw_params, alsa-lib should automatically adjust the 1 channel to fill all output channels. Same problem happens with device "plug:front" ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- perex - 03-13-2004 18:36 CET ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please, could you remind me your hardware? Note that the 'plug:front' combination should work also for mono streams. I think that it's bug for your hardware configuration. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jcdutton - 03-13-2004 19:34 CET ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I have a SB Audigy 2 and an ICH5 Intel8x0. The SB Audigy 2 fails. The ICH5 works. (for front only, but I think getting rear to work is a different bug) Output from lspci -n |grep 0401 0000:00:1f.5 Class 0401: 8086:24d5 (rev 02) 0000:03:06.0 Class 0401: 1102:0004 (rev 04) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- perex - 03-14-2004 11:36 CET ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please, try the attached patch against alsa-lib - audigy.conf.patch. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- perex - 03-20-2004 16:01 CET ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bug is fixed in CVS. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jcdutton - 03-20-2004 16:34 CET ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fix tested here, and works.
