When CFG_MEMTEST_SCRATCH is undefined alternate memory test in do_mem_mtest
(with CFG_ALT_MEMTEST defined) dereferences null pointer. It defines:
vu_long *dummy = NULL;
and later does:
*dummy = ~val;
