Hmm. You really should see something ... Maybe grub does something silly, so the machine comes up with the vga in graphics instead of text mode. What happens if you turn off the eye-candy stuff in /boot/grub/menu.lst (comment the gfxmenu line)? Gerd -- -mm seems unusually stable at present. -- akpm about 2.6.12-rc3-mm3
