Hi,
you need to disable the loading of the ata_piix.ko kernel module for the 2.6.27
kernel you're going to test the patch with. If you still don't know what to do,
just reconfigure your kernel by issuing:
make menuconfig
in the kernel sources, then go to "Device Drivers" -> "Serial ATA (prod) and
Parallel ATA (experimental) drivers" and disable the menu point "Intel ESB,
ICH, PIIX3, PIIX4 PATA/SATA support" and then apply the patch, recompile your
kernel, install it and reboot the machine.
