Subject: + net-can-use-memdup_user.patch added to -mm tree
Date: Tue, 25 May 2010 15:36:24 -0700	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <201005252236.o4PMaPRR019029@imap1.linux-foundation.org> (raw)

The patch titled
     net/can: use memdup_user
has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is
     net-can-use-memdup_user.patch

Before you just go and hit "reply", please:
   a) Consider who else should be cc'ed
   b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well
   c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a
      reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's

*** Remember to use Documentation/SubmitChecklist when testing your code ***

See http://userweb.kernel.org/~akpm/stuff/added-to-mm.txt to find
out what to do about this

The current -mm tree may be found at http://userweb.kernel.org/~akpm/mmotm/

Subject: net/can: use memdup_user
From: Julia Lawall <julia@diku.dk>

Use memdup_user when user data is immediately copied into the
allocated region.

The semantic patch that makes this change is as follows:
(http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/)

// <smpl>
@@
expression from,to,size,flag;
position p;
identifier l1,l2;
@@

-  to = \(kmalloc@p\|kzalloc@p\)(size,flag);
+  to = memdup_user(from,size);
   if (
-      to==NULL
+      IS_ERR(to)
                 || ...) {
   <+... when != goto l1;
-  -ENOMEM
+  PTR_ERR(to)
