Subject: request for versioning on user manual.
Date: Wed, 01 Dec 2010 10:06:16 +0100	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20101201090616.204910@gmx.net> (raw)

i have two PDF documents for e.g. offline reading and archiving.

both are titled:
  OpenEmbedded User Manual

both including the follwoing words in their preface:
Copyright © 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 Holger Hans Peter FreytherKoen KooiDetlef VollmannJamie LenehanMarcin JuszkiewiczRolf Leggewie

the origin of these documents is not clear to me.
it might be the result from a build process or a PDF printed from the web.

the one document has 147 pages and other has 151 pages
and i have really no clue which one is the more recent one
or the recommended one. the PDF internal property values are simply useless.

how about adding a useable versioning to this document?
i think of something that will be persistent even if printed on white paper.

regards, Alex.

PS: i think a very similar improvement can and should be done to the bitbake manuals.
