Subject: [ath9k-devel] ar9271 SIOCSIFFLAGS error and authentication timeout
Date: Wed, 23 Feb 2011 21:46:41 +0100 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <20110223204641.GA19782@fly> (raw)
Keeping it short: I've followed all the instructions on
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/ath9k_htc
in order to get the TL-WN721N USB WiFi device to work. I tried with
2.6.37
2.6.37.1
2.6.38-rc6 mainline last stable
in all permutations with
linux-next compat-wireless
linux-2.6-allstable compat-wireless
in turn in all permutations with the firmware for the Ar9271
from the Kernel GIT
from wireless.kernel.org:
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/ath9k_htc?action=AttachFile&do=view&target=ar9271.fw
Nothing helped. The best results I got, and where I am currently stuck
is with
2.6.38-rc6, linux-next compat-wireless, firmware from GIT
When I boot (Gentoo), everything starts okay, but I get constant
"try 1"
"try 2"
"try 3"
"authentication timed out"
in dmesg. When I restart /etc/init.d/net.wlan1 I get, after
wpa_supplicant is said to start
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Unknown error 132
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Unknown error 132
wpa_cli can subsequently not connect to wpa_supplicant. I'm clueless,
what else can I do? Why is it not working? on wireless.kernel.org the
chipset and the device I own are said to work!
