Try the current qemy-img info on a raw file you will be surprised of the results.
This field also can have an "unavailable" value.
example result with unpatched qemu-img:
benoit@Laure:~/qemu$ qemu-img info truc1.raw
image: truc1.raw
file format: raw
virtual size: 1.0G (1073741824 bytes)
disk size: 776M
disk size is actual-size.
