My above comment was addressed to Franklin - he mentioned the support outside 
of this mailing list, hence my reply.

Like I said above - if you want to start with a released version, that's fine. 
From your first email it wasn't clear - it sounded like you wanted to backport 
some fixes to binutils from newer versions back to AMSDK 7.0, to which I 
replied accordingly, suggesting to use the latest code base instead, due to 
the reasons outlined above. If you are not comfortable with latest code base, 
that's fine too.

So, questions about creating an image of your own does fall into the subject 
of this mailing list.
