Normally, the Linux kernel sources makefile contains something like:
VERSION = 4
PATCHLEVEL = 5
SUBLEVEL = 0
EXTRAVERSION =
Are you sure you pass the path to some kernel sources to
prepare-kernel.sh --linux parameter ?
