Its filename is revert-kasan-drop-skip_kasan_poison-variable-in-free_pages_prepare.patch This patch will shortly appear at https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/25-new.git/tree/patches/revert-kasan-drop-skip_kasan_poison-variable-in-free_pages_prepare.patch This patch will later appear in the mm-hotfixes-unstable branch at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/mm Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next via the mm-everything branch at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/mm and is updated there every 2-3 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Peter Collingbourne Subject: Revert "kasan: drop skip_kasan_poison variable in free_pages_prepare" Date: Tue, 28 Feb 2023 16:35:44 -0800 This reverts commit 487a32ec24be819e747af8c2ab0d5c515508086a. The should_skip_kasan_poison() function reads the PG_skip_kasan_poison flag from page->flags. However, this line of code in free_pages_prepare(): page->flags &= ~PAGE_FLAGS_CHECK_AT_PREP; clears most of page->flags, including PG_skip_kasan_poison, before calling should_skip_kasan_poison(), which meant that it would never return true as a result of the page flag being set. Therefore, fix the code to call should_skip_kasan_poison() before clearing the flags, as we were doing before the reverted patch.
