Subject: [GIT PULL] firewire updates for 6.4-rc1
Date: Thu, 27 Apr 2023 12:49:34 +0900	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20230427034934.GA556709@workstation> (raw)

Hi Linus,

Nice to meet you. I'm a new maintainer of FireWire subsystem, taking over
from Stefan Richter. Please pull FireWire updates for 6.4-rc1.

The following changes since commit 457391b0380335d5e9a5babdec90ac53928b23b4:

  Linux 6.3 (2023-04-23 12:02:52 -0700)

are available in the Git repository at:

  git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ieee1394/linux1394.git tags/firewire-6.4-rc1

for you to fetch changes up to 02dc51a0a07a379539b4661ecb56eeb5b19b3928:

firewire: init_ohci1394_dma: use correct function names in comments (2023-04-24 09:19:35 +0900)

firewire updates for 6.4-rc1

The pull request includes a few changes, Its main purpose is to prepare
for my future work by taking over maintainership from Stefan Richter. I
have plans to work on several items; e.g. packet processing in workqueue
context instead of tasklet.

As you may be aware, the IEEE 1394 technology is outdated. However, we
still have users. It is better to ensure a smooth transition for the users
to shift to other categories of devices. The first commit includes my
schedule to maintain the subsystem for the next six years. I would
appreciate your assistance throughout this period.
