Fix this by only dereferencing perfmon after it has been null checked. The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2022-49485 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Issue introduced in 5.15 with commit 26a4dc29b74a137f45665089f6d3d633fcc9b662 and fixed in 5.15.46 with commit 4be045434923e549a50846a066a04b7b6c1d6d33 Issue introduced in 5.15 with commit 26a4dc29b74a137f45665089f6d3d633fcc9b662 and fixed in 5.17.14 with commit 1df8f8901babcc8c8eea2c067179e455b5c828fd Issue introduced in 5.15 with commit 26a4dc29b74a137f45665089f6d3d633fcc9b662 and fixed in 5.18.3 with commit 3b72deb784a7d4ae8519a5c584cd87c4b57aa6c8 Issue introduced in 5.15 with commit 26a4dc29b74a137f45665089f6d3d633fcc9b662 and fixed in 5.19 with commit ce7a1ecf3f9f1fccaf67295307614511d8e11b13 Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2022-49485 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: drivers/gpu/drm/v3d/v3d_perfmon.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4be045434923e549a50846a066a04b7b6c1d6d33 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/1df8f8901babcc8c8eea2c067179e455b5c828fd https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3b72deb784a7d4ae8519a5c584cd87c4b57aa6c8 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/ce7a1ecf3f9f1fccaf67295307614511d8e11b13
