Subject: CVE-2022-49367: net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: Fix refcount leak in mv88e6xxx_mdios_register
Date: Wed, 26 Feb 2025 03:10:41 +0100	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <2025022645-CVE-2022-49367-3b2e@gregkh> (raw)

Description
===========

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: Fix refcount leak in mv88e6xxx_mdios_register

of_get_child_by_name() returns a node pointer with refcount
incremented, we should use of_node_put() on it when done.

mv88e6xxx_mdio_register() pass the device node to of_mdiobus_register().
We don't need the device node after it.

Add missing of_node_put() to avoid refcount leak.

The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2022-49367 to this issue.

Mitigation
==========

The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest
stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual
changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel
release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or
supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to
the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this
issue can be found at these commits:
