Fix by replacing pm_runtime_get_sync() with pm_runtime_resume_and_get() which auto-balances the usage counter on failure, releasing both fence references on error, and returning ERR_PTR(ret) instead of the unsignaled fence. [tomeu: Refactored error paths to use consolidated goto labels] The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2026-89590 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Issue introduced in 6.18 with commit 0810d5ad88a18f1e6d549853a388ad0316f74e36 and fixed in 6.18.50 with commit 9ad8821573a36bcd18c84dbca3027802b0ea062f Issue introduced in 6.18 with commit 0810d5ad88a18f1e6d549853a388ad0316f74e36 and fixed in 7.2.4 with commit 7d6fa298c23495b805004f5f446497b661998fa5 Issue introduced in 6.18 with commit 0810d5ad88a18f1e6d549853a388ad0316f74e36 and fixed in 7.3-rc1 with commit 9b2dedadf6a91ac3fc9fae268bb556a041222711 Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2026-89590 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: drivers/accel/rocket/rocket_job.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/9ad8821573a36bcd18c84dbca3027802b0ea062f https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/7d6fa298c23495b805004f5f446497b661998fa5 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/9b2dedadf6a91ac3fc9fae268bb556a041222711
