Fix that by adding a call to rtl92du_deinit_shared_data() in the error path. The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2026-80942 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Issue introduced in 6.11 with commit b5dc8873b6ffebd331e46814e537179eac8b6aa4 and fixed in 6.12.109 with commit 3a5b23e7dbeb00c93ec3b8add97f5de9bb9cbb5c Issue introduced in 6.11 with commit b5dc8873b6ffebd331e46814e537179eac8b6aa4 and fixed in 6.18.50 with commit dc8b0be0ec4d9b0c80f07b27e656e4a94de5a344 Issue introduced in 6.11 with commit b5dc8873b6ffebd331e46814e537179eac8b6aa4 and fixed in 7.2.4 with commit 7159e1e12468a0b1ac519b296280c0a27f91eab5 Issue introduced in 6.11 with commit b5dc8873b6ffebd331e46814e537179eac8b6aa4 and fixed in 7.3-rc1 with commit 6496ce90845df2d22fb8e8ed235cd2936fad41c8 Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2026-80942 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: drivers/net/wireless/realtek/rtlwifi/rtl8192du/sw.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3a5b23e7dbeb00c93ec3b8add97f5de9bb9cbb5c https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/dc8b0be0ec4d9b0c80f07b27e656e4a94de5a344 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/7159e1e12468a0b1ac519b296280c0a27f91eab5 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/6496ce90845df2d22fb8e8ed235cd2936fad41c8
