Its filename is rapidio-use-dmaengine_get_dma_device-instead-of-chan-device-dev.patch This patch will shortly appear at https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/25-new.git/tree/patches/rapidio-use-dmaengine_get_dma_device-instead-of-chan-device-dev.patch This patch will later appear in the mm-nonmm-unstable branch at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/mm Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next via various branches at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/mm and is updated there most days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Frank Li Subject: rapidio: use dmaengine_get_dma_device() instead of chan->device->dev Date: Thu, 17 Sep 2026 16:50:12 -0400 Replace direct dma_chan::device::dev access with the proper dmaengine_get_dma_device() for consumer API. chan->device->dev is not always the device used for DMA mapping. Some DMA engines support per-channel IOMMU mappings, so different channels may use different DMA devices. dmaengine_get_dma_device() returns the correct device for each channel. This also prepares for making the DMA engine provider data structures private. DMA consumers should not access DMA engine internals directly.
