Subject: CVE-2026-93225: phy: fsl-imx8mq-usb: fix typec switch leak on probe error path
Date: Thu, 24 Sep 2026 17:21:09 +0200	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <2026092407-CVE-2026-93225-52e4@gregkh> (raw)

From: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@kernel.org>

Description
===========

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

phy: fsl-imx8mq-usb: fix typec switch leak on probe error path

If probe fails after imx95_usb_phy_get_tca() succeeds, the typec
switch leaks because the only cleanup path was in .remove(), which
never runs on probe failure.

Use devm_add_action_or_reset() so the switch is cleaned up on both
probe failure and driver removal. The imx95_usb_phy_put_tca() is no
longer needed, it will be removed in .remove() too.

The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2026-93225 to this issue.

Mitigation
==========

The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest
stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual
changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel
release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or
supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to
the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this
issue can be found at these commits:
