The candidate record doesn't have an endpoint state yet at this point, so the free for that can just be removed. The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2026-97584 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Issue introduced in 6.12.101 with commit d6aa05cd995830f6dcee7b139335edb266de38a6 and fixed in 6.12.111 with commit 981d72663dee2fa6efaf202293e68d2b10a0d1d4 Issue introduced in 6.15 with commit 4882ba78574e2d8c579658f65f6784b0d139d173 and fixed in 6.18.53 with commit e5bc0fa9959dc8f7eb1afab7c039594a16a1a65c Issue introduced in 6.15 with commit 4882ba78574e2d8c579658f65f6784b0d139d173 and fixed in 7.2.7 with commit 349e713039a1fd6659c27e7a66238bfa49ce37e9 Issue introduced in 6.15 with commit 4882ba78574e2d8c579658f65f6784b0d139d173 and fixed in 7.3-rc3 with commit 044d596094af4b769fb8e1173dff0d08bd68db6c Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2026-97584 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: fs/afs/server.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/981d72663dee2fa6efaf202293e68d2b10a0d1d4 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/e5bc0fa9959dc8f7eb1afab7c039594a16a1a65c https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/349e713039a1fd6659c27e7a66238bfa49ce37e9 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/044d596094af4b769fb8e1173dff0d08bd68db6c
