A unicast frame sent on one interface thus matches a station of a different VLAN of the same BSS and is transmitted to it. Only match stations of the interface the frame is sent on, except for control port frames, since those may be sent for VLAN stations directly on the BSS interface. The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2026-98822 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Issue introduced in 4.1 with commit 97ffe75791b3e9c0797d5891070e41321c3beccb and fixed in 6.12.113 with commit fd875e24e8f2b202e3636b3ef8e6060874eca0e5 Issue introduced in 4.1 with commit 97ffe75791b3e9c0797d5891070e41321c3beccb and fixed in 6.18.56 with commit 88e96d902efeefbffc34450969f40dc61a0c8a42 Issue introduced in 4.1 with commit 97ffe75791b3e9c0797d5891070e41321c3beccb and fixed in 7.2.10 with commit ad61b9a5febb42e4b96df8d30ad76ddc36dda9d0 Issue introduced in 4.1 with commit 97ffe75791b3e9c0797d5891070e41321c3beccb and fixed in 7.3-rc6 with commit 7f93ca31f7fd9b42e7d692f59514436d448ac908 Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2026-98822 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: net/mac80211/ieee80211_i.h net/mac80211/tx.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/fd875e24e8f2b202e3636b3ef8e6060874eca0e5 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/88e96d902efeefbffc34450969f40dc61a0c8a42 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/ad61b9a5febb42e4b96df8d30ad76ddc36dda9d0 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/7f93ca31f7fd9b42e7d692f59514436d448ac908
