On an MT7621 or an MT7531 both pointers are still NULL from devm_kzalloc(), so rmmod or a sysfs unbind calls regulator_disable() on NULL. The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2026-98565 to this issue. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2026-98565 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: drivers/net/dsa/mt7530-mdio.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/bd172580e624bac00d83abd5c4320d2e14d853bc https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/e9a5298532780ecdd05c3220f3e1e3067b3537c3 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/62c0e38b2e5034184d4502ce77bd178b29e59b83 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/aae2a1f1e3a0ac5eeb439262a2328a2a392413ac https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c2cdef41e0b4d8ed23a5b41e6ad4e64594e055e4
