I have a problem using any of the following:

reboot
halt
init 6
init 0
shutdown -r now
shutdown -h now

The last kernel version I have in which these worked properly was
2.4.6-ac2, the desired effect obviously being that I can reboot of halt
my machine, the actual result being that no matter which command is
executed the machine runs its shutdown scripts, unmounts the filesystems
and then says "INIT: no more processes left at this run level" at which
point I can only use SysRq.  I can do a SysRq-s,SysRq-u,Sys-b and
reboot, I can also look at active kernel threads (processes) and all of
them look fine, every once in a while khubd (I have a usb keyboard and
mouse) gets stuck in 'Z' state but the keyboard still works when it
does.  Anyway the basics about this machine is that it is a Tyan Tiger
230 (Via 133A Dual w/ via686b UDMA) with (2) 1 GHz Pentium III
Coppermine FC-PGA chips, 1 GB of Registered ECC RAM, the BIOS is set to
use PNP and set to use ACPI.  I have ACPI enabled, but on the system
portion so all I should be getting is the ability to shutdown/reboot
using ACPI.  I also am using MPS 1.1, I have tried 1.4 though and it
doesn't have any effect.  Thanks for any help, and my .config file is
