The benefit is that you can compile something
more modern instead of your 1.0.2, which is
known to be buggy. And also you will be able
to manually include any patches you want
(like for ex. new Sound Blaster emulation:)
Compiling the same 1.0.2 will unlikely to make
any noticeable difference though.
