Subject: Trying to get GUI'ed
Date: Sun, 20 Oct 2002 10:15:35 -0400 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <3DB2BA87.E2C47BDD@gelm.net> (raw)

Howdy, Y'all:
I am trying to 'upgrade' from 'console' to GUI.
I think I have successfully installed XFree86/4.2.1.
I can 'startx' and I get a monochrome desktop with
a tiny clock and three windows; 'login', 'xterm', and 'xterm'.
I can toggle among three resolutions.
I want to run a browser, preferably Netscape
(preferably v4.61 if available for linux).
What am I missing?
Where do I go for help to get from where I am to where I want to be?
Regards, Chuck
