Subject: [resent 2.4.23-pre5] usb-storage hang since 2.4.22-rc3 ACPI updates

[ this is only the first resent ;) 2.4.23-pre5 has the same 2.4.23-pre3 problem ]

Hi,

I've a usb 2.0 mass-storage (BAFO) that works great and fast with ehci_hcd
but since 2.4.22-rc3 ACPI changes the only way to made it works at usb 2.0
speed is to boot whit acpi=off opition.

Without ehci_hcd module and ACPI on everything is fine but slow as 1.1 usb device :((
I've tried also with only pci=noacpi option and this helped once, but not always as
acpi=off.

Reading the 2.4.22rc2-rc3 diff there are only big ACPI updates and no
ehci_hcd related changes, so disabling ACPI made it work again but I need
ACPI this is a laptop ;)

Attached files:

lspci.txt : machine specs
config.txt : kernel config
kernel-boot-2.4.22-rc2.txt : latest acpi-ehci_hcd working dmesg
kernel-boot-2.4.23-pre3-acpioff.txt : 2.4.23-pre3 acpi=off working dmesg
kernel-boot-2.4.23-pre3.txt : 2.4.23-pre3 acpi NON working dmesg

The hang is 100% reproducible, tell me if anyone need more testing/information.

thanks in advance,
luca
