You have to find a harddisk with the same Firmware Version as yours. Often the internal strucutre changes and another firmware can't read the plates. When the Harddisk is produced in the same month, the chances are good. Check the power supply to the harddisk, many problems can be solved with contact spray. Check the electronics, maybe you have to remove it for the backside, maybe you see some defect components or conducting paths. Then you can use only the electronic part of another hd with the same firmware. Another tip is to your hd into a plastik bag and then into a fridge (not the ice box). Sometimes the motor stuck and gets free when he shrinks by the coolness. Good luck daniel -- nihil me cirumdat
