I got a similar problem on 2.6.0 with no ACPI patch, while entering in
S3 with (and not S1): I've a clean resume, but the screen remains blank,
while keyboard inputs are accepted. I posted my problem here

Sleeping in S3 from an terminal in an X session doesn't restore the X
session, but starting the shutdown (always without seeing my typing),
restore tty1 showing normal messages on shutdown (like "Shutdown called
from..." and "acpi_power_off_called"), as usual when I press the
'power-button' from an X session.
I'm on an ASUS M3410C (M3N): http://luca.pca.it/projects/asus/m3410c.php
Attached my DSDT from 'cat /proc/acpi/dsdt > dsdt.raw'. Maybe it could
be useful.
Please excuse me if the problems aren't related.
Thx, bye,
Gismo / Luca
