You asked for code and urls to help you develop a new gui for alsaplayer 
so I sent you a link that has a lot of useful information about alsaplayer.

I wonder if you meant to ask for info on developing a frontend for 
aplay/arecord?

If not check the alsaplayer cvs to get some ideas and tips.

Apparently upon the beginning of the barrage, the donkey broke 
discipline and panicked, toppling the cart. At that point, the rockets 
disconnected from the timer, leaving them strewn around the street. 
Tethered to the now toppled cart, the donkey was unable to escape before 
the arrival of U.S. troops.
