i'm just getting back to this thread to report that i get similar errors 
with my usb harddrive. i've formatted it with reiser4 for testing and if 
i pull the plug while the fs is mounted i get "reiser4 panicked 
cowardly". the fs does not get corrupted by this, but the symptomps are 
similar to what i reported before.
