The original intention of the "CF Parameter Set element" was to establish a "contention free" period of operation in the channel for PCF stations. The normal DCF stations would simply defer from accessing the channel during this period by setting their NAV to the duration of this period. I am aware that PCF is not deployed, but my question is related to whether existing DCF stations would understand the mentioned element if present in a Beacon frame and accordingly defer from transmitting, or whether they would simply ignore that information ?
