I didn't tried it (autofs with TLS) but I know that autofs reads ldap 
configuration in /etc/openldap/ldap.conf on redhat config! not 
/etc/ldap.conf , did you put a TLS_CACERT directive in 
/etc/openldap/ldap.conf ?
