I prefer bottom posting, but perhaps you do not, so my response will be top posted this time. bob krasko wrote: > thanks, chuck > i have been playing with linpac for some time, looking for some way to set > up a mailbox. > > does tnos do that ? I am not sure what your 'needs' are, however you mentioned 'mailbox', and 'mail'. 'tnos' and 'f6fbb' are 'mailbox' programs and offer message/mail sending, receiving, and forwarding (automagically). 'linpac' is a terminal program. It can connect your keyboard and monitor to your TNC so you can communicate with 'tnos' or 'f6fbb'. > i want people to be able to connect to me, chat, leave mail, whatever, and > do it in some kind of colorized format as opposed to plain and simple black > and white text. I am not sure about the 'whatever', but why do you want people to do it in 'colorized format'. Whether to use color or not should be their preference, not yours ?! > -----Original Message----- > From: chuck gelm [mailto:chuck@gelm.net] > Sent: Monday, January 31, 2005 10:46 AM > To: bob krasko > Cc: linux-hams@vger.kernel.org > Subject: Re: linpac mail > > > bob krasko wrote: > >>i am attempting, without success, to find a way for people who connect to > > my > >>system running linpac version 0.16pre3 to leave me mail. >> >>the instructions mention ax25.mail utilities. if this is the answer, i >>cannot find a place to download these files, are they already in ax25 >>utilities? >> >>since this program is dated july 2001, are these instructions obsolete? >> >>how do i get linpac mail configured? >> >>thanks, >>bk > > > http://linpac.sourceforge.net/doc/manual.txt > contains: > "... > 8.3 Utilities for mail exchange > > LinPac contains some utilities for exchanging mail with the F6FBB > BBS. ..." > IMHO this infers no ability to of 'linpac' to 'receive and store' > messages/mail. > > "... > 8.4 Mail client > > This application allows full screen message editing and browsing.
