You need the kernel modules, so alsa-driver.
You need alsa-lib (libasound), so alsa-lib
You probably want a basic mixer app, and probably a speaker-test app, so 
alsa-utils.

Summary:
alsa-driver, alsa-lib, alsa-utils.
