I think the confusion arises from the fact there are at least two models
produced by M-Audio with this name. My class-compliant unit looks like this:

The older model has a different colour faceplate:
http://www.core-sound.com/mobilepre_large.jpg
I'm guessing they changed the internals at the same time as they
redesigned the case, but who knows? For owners of the earlier units,
there could be a link to http://usb-midi-fw.sourceforge.net/ from the
matrix.
